Manzushir monastery was built in 1733 in the beautiful zone of Bogd Khaan Mountain. There were more than 20 temples and 300 resident monks. Destroyed in 1932, the only remaining temple has been restored and a museum at the site tells the story of the monastery. Above the monasteries are three main shrines in the rock face. In them are fine rock carvings of various Buddhist deities, some of which are painted.
