Altai Tavan Bogd 10 days

Itinerary

Day 1. Flight to Khovd western Mongolia and drive to Tsenkher cave

Early morning transfer to the airport for your flight to Khovd, the capital of Khovd province. Our team will be waiting for you. Drive to Khoid Tsenkher cave (Northern blue cave) 72km. The rock paintings of the cave dating back 20,000-15,000 years ago rightfully considered as world class evidence of the Upper Paleolithic period. Various symbols and animals painted with rosy and brown colours deep inside the cave depict a quietly standing stage, a buffalo with horns, oxen, ibexes, elephants, ostriches, and two-humped camels. Day 2. Khovd and Khar-Us lake

Drive back to Khovd province via Khar Us Lake. From the Khoid Tsenkher Cave to Khar Us lake is 50km. There are we have an excellent opportunity to see varieties of birds and beaver. You can rest, the hearing sound of various waterfowls gathered in the lake. Visit the local museum in KHovd town. Stay overnight in a Ger of nomad family /Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner/


Day 3. Tolbo Lake

Drive to Tolbo Lake. From the Khar us Lake to Tolb Lake is 170km.  Admire the beautiful view of majestic mountains on the way. Break the trip near the steep Tolbo Lake and free hiking there. Tolbo Lake is a stunning freshwater lake in western Mongolia, famous for its clear turquoise waters and scenic mountain surroundings. Nestled in a remote area, it offers a peaceful retreat for nature lovers, with opportunities for hiking, wildlife observation, and experiencing the traditional nomadic lifestyle of nearby herding communities. Day 4,5. Altai Tavan Bogd National Park

From the Tolbo lake to Altai tvanbogd is 70km.Today we will drive to Altai Tavanbogd National Park (means The Holy Five) via Tsagaan Gol (White River) valley and through the Altai Mountains that are Mongolia’s most extensive and highest mountain range more than 3000-4000 meters high. One famous spot is “Shiveet Hairhan” Sacred Mountain, where we will see the most significant rock painting site from the period of the Huns (approx 200 B.C.) We will ride a horse to Altai Tavanbogd referring to the peaks of Huiten – 4374m and the highest. It is a stunning setting with the impressive massif of lofty snow-capped mountains. We will reach the 20km long Potanina glacier, which is ice river starts from Altai Tavan Bogd Snow Peaks.

However, depending on the weather condition, we will decide to watch this place or visit some hills. Because heavy snowfalls or storm can occur any time. This is extremely dangerous for visiting people. We will make horse riding to the edge of potaniin glacier. Stay overnight in a Ger of nomad family /Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner/


Day 6. Khurgan lake

Khurgan Lake is a picturesque freshwater lake in northern Mongolia, surrounded by rolling hills and pristine steppe. Known for its clear waters and tranquil atmosphere, the lake is a perfect spot for nature walks, birdwatching, and experiencing the peaceful beauty of Mongolia’s northern landscapes.Stay overnight in a Ger of nomad family /Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner/


Day 7,8. Eagle hunter family

We will drive to the eagle hunter family and see their nomadic and hunting lifestyle. The Eagle Hunter family located 60 km far from Bayan-Ulgii city.  There we will discover how to hunt the animals with well-trained eagles. This is the amazing moment that the relationship between predator and human. Stay overnight in a Ger of nomad family /Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner/


Day 9. Hiking day

Spend a full day exploring Mongolia’s stunning landscapes on foot. Trek through mountains, forests, rivers, and open meadows, enjoying panoramic views, local wildlife, and the tranquility of nature. This immersive experience combines adventure with the chance to connect with Mongolia’s pristine environment. Stay overnight in a Ger of nomad family /Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner/


Day 10. Ulaanbaatar

Fly back to the Ulaanbaatar from Bayan-Ulgii province. End of the service.  /Breakfast, Lunch/
